Pokémon GO has revealed a major update to Mega Evolution arriving during GO Tour, highlighted by the debut of Super Mega Raids. These new battles will require at least eight Trainers to defeat powerful Mega-Evolved Pokémon and will use a new resource called Link Charges to enter.

Similar to Shadow Raids, bosses can become enraged and deploy shields, with each player able to break only one. Mega-Evolved Pokémon will automatically step in to destroy shields when this happens. A new in-game map will also help players locate these raids.

Link Charges are earned through weekly challenges, Gifts, and Community Meetups, or purchased in the shop. The update also adds the Super Max Mega level, boosting CP, Candy, XP, and Candy XL rewards, while reducing the Mega rest time to 24 hours.
